Let’s just get it out of the way…..Big Dance Day 2 was TERRIBLE! Once in a while the Vegas numbers line up almost exactly with our handicaps and there is no value to be found. If this were a normal Tuesday in January we would have Passed the Card. Study as we might, we simply could not get a feel for Day 2 of the Big Dance and our results clearly showed that. As we perused the Box Scores this morning it was a bunch of “How did we miss that?” It started with our 3* Loss on Alabama’s Labaron Philon going Over his Point Total. He took EXACTLY 1 SHOT, while dishing 8 assists. Over the past couple of months we have repeatedly hit this prop as Philon became an integral part of Bama’s offensive strategy (scoring 21 versus KY recently) but, in his last 2 contests, that ship has sailed. We lost a second 3* as the Florida Gators -28.5 won by 26. This one was lost when the Gators went to sleep on both ends in the last 3 minutes of the 1st half going scoreless, while allowing Norfolk to hit 5 Straight Layups, turning a 32 point advantage to 22. Over the entire game Florida’s interior defense was inexplicably nowhere to be found as Norfolk scored again and again inside 5 feet. If the Gators play like that against Duke they get destroyed. We split our 2* releases as New Mexico took care of Marquette but pathetic Grand Canyon could muster just 49 points versus Maryland causing the outcome to stay well Under. Subtracting 6 Units leaves our rolling 26 Day record at 64-39 for PLUS 81 UNITS. A terrible day was bound to come at some point so we Shake It Off and Move On to an exciting round of 32 and get Back on the Winning Track!
