SCP had a terrible Friday as all 3 releases went down. Our 4* Houston Cougars led 56-46 with 7:59 remaining but tanked down the stretch only to win by a bucket on a layup at the buzzer. Star guard, and leading scorer, LJ Cryer decided to take the night off scoring all of 5 points on 2-13 shooting (1 of 5 from 3) with many of those misses coming on easy floaters in the paint where he is usually deadly. Had Cryer had anything close to his normal performance, the Cougars cover but, as has happened any number of times in this tournament, something happens that you just cannot handicap…..welcome to Sports Betting. Our 2* on KY was over at halftime (43-28) as the Wildcats could not handle Tennessee’s overplay on Defense and could barely get a shot off. Instead of using the Vol’s aggressiveness against them by using on-ball screens and back cuts, and driving the paint, and feeding single covered big man Amari Williams (6-9, 14 points), coach Mark Pope was clueless. It will be interesting to see how Houston coach Kelvin Sampson handles the Tennessee pressure? Our 1* on Michigan looked very good for 30 minutes, as the Wolves led 48-47 at the 10 minute mark, but they then allowed Auburn to go on one of their patented runs and that was that. We entered the tournament on a very nice run but our results the last 2 weeks have been frustrating and nowhere near up to the standards we, and our clients, have come to expect over the years…..and we apologize for that. We will continue to do the work and get this turned around Starting Today! Losing 7 Units brings our rolling 33 day record to 68-51 for PLUS 66.2 UNITS.
