Our 2* STRONG play on Milwaukee was a 6-5 Winner as the Brewers completed the SWEEP by downing the struggling Red Sox in 10 innings on Wednesday despite the ineptitude of manager Pat Murphy. With the score tied 1-1 in the top of the 4th inning the Red Sox had men on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs and the left handed power hitter Rafael Devers coming to the plate to face the right handed pitcher Freddy Peralta. Obviously Murphy would order Peralta to walk Devers with 1st base open. Nope. To the surprise of no one (except Murphy apparently), Devers worked the count full and then laced a single to center bringing home both runners. It is just astonishing that highly paid managers, at the Major League level, practice utter buffoonery on a nightly basis with their in game decision making. We are pretty certain your average 6th grader would know not to test Devers in that situation. Our 1* SOLID play on the Athletics +1.5 looked good through 6 innings (3-2 lead) before the normally dependable reliever Justin Sterner spit the bit by allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and a walk in the bottom of the 7th that ultimately resulted in a 3-5 Loss. Having relievers blow games for us in the late innings has occurred so many times lately that we have almost come to expect it…..very frustrating. Adding .2 Units brings our rolling 93 day record to 130-117 for Plus 57.29 Units.
