We went 3-2 on Monday in MLB with tight games being prevalent across the slate. Our 2* STRONG play on Seattle came through as the Mariners tallied 4 runs in the 8th inning to pull away from the White Sox 5-1. Luis Castillo continued his excellent recent form allowing just 3 hits while shutting out Chicago over 7 strong innings. For the White Sox, starter Davis Martin is proving to be one of the few bright spots in another dismal season as he allowed just 2 runs over 7.1 innings. We split our other four 1* SOLID releases 2-2 with WINS on Milwaukee and KC and LOSSES with the Cubs and Tampa Bay. The Brewers built a 4-1 lead and were able to hold on for a 4-3 victory. The Royals picked up a 3-1 Win behind “star in the making” Kris Bubic who is emerging as one of the top starters in all of baseball. Over his last 4 starts Bubic has tossed 25.1 innings and allowed just a single earned run and currently sports a 1.47 ERA and a WHIP of 1.06. We lost a heartbreaker with the Cubs as they took a 7-6 lead into the bottom of the 9th inning only to see Daniel Palencia give up 2 runs in an 8-7 loss. This effort was unexpected as Palencia has been very good, sporting a miniscule .96 WHIP. Our final selection on Tampa Bay was yet another 1 run loss as the Astros snuck by with a 4-3 win. Had a bounce or two went our way this could have easily been a 5-0 Sweep Monday; or at least 4-1 had the normally dependable Palencia not spit the bit. Dropping .8 Units brings our rolling 84 day record to 129-99 for Plus 88.72 Units.
