Our 2* STRONG selection on the All-Star game to go OVER 7 runs (NL 7-6) was an easy WINNER. As we noted in the write up, our handicap was based on a multitude of Power Hitters swatting balls into the humid Atlanta air and that is exactly what happened as Corbin Carroll, big Pete Alonzo and Brent Rooker all went deep. The AL clinched the OVER by exploding for 4 runs in the 7th inning. The AL tied the game at 6-6 in the 9th which led to the first ever “Swat Off” with each team selecting 3 players to get 3 swings in an attempt to hit the most Home Runs. The NL ultimately prevailed 4-3 as All-Star MVP Kyle Schwarber connected on all 3 of his swings. This win extends a very good 14-1 run to end MLB’s first half as we get ready to start again on Friday. Adding 2 Units brings our rolling 140 day record to 192-164 for Plus 119.94 Units.
2* STRONG – (MLB All-Star Game) NL/AL OVER 7 -120 (7-6) WIN
7-15-25 2* STRONG – (MLB All-Star Game) NL/AL OVER 7 (-120)
We rarely get involved with All-Star games but this Total is just TOO LOW with so much offensive firepower on both sides and with the game being played at Truist Park in Atlanta. Truist Park is known as a “Hitters Park”, particularly for Home Runs, due to a smaller than average outfield and very high humidity which allows the ball to carry farther. These lineups are rife with power hitters and it only takes a couple dingers with men on base to eclipse this Total. While we can never be sure which pitchers will be used in the mid to late innings, the staffs overall feel a bit less intimidating than normal. We feel comfortable bucking recent trends in this matchup and will back several balls finding the seats in the humid Atlanta air.
